As a close circuit heat exchanger system, aircon insulation is very important in the tropics more particularly in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor area. The gas inside the system makes the aircon served to our needs if there is a good insulation done.
Insulation in a sense is to keep aircon system in tact from all kind of losses in respect of heat exchange. The actual heat exchange, as expected, has to be done in the proper elements of the aircon system like evaporator and the condenser, not to the linking pipe system.
In order air condition system to work properly, proper isolation has been applied all the length of connecting copper pipes. Insulation material most of the time is the specially produced rubber pipe insulation material for different diameter of the copper pipes.
Proper size of rubber insulation material is also important not to leave loose air around the copper pipe if fits the diameter exactly. This condition could increase the level of insulation.
If there is no good insulation, heat exchange would happen during the travel of the gas inside the copper pipes and cause a sweat. This is because when the not well insulated copper pipe transfers the cool liquid into the indoor unit, warm humid air surrounds the cool pipe and get condense around the pipe and cause sweating. This makes dripping air condition unit in your house, which you don’t ever wanted.
On the other hand, outdoor side of the copper pipe if not insulated well, gets heat from outside effects like sun and heat up the gas just before allowing the gas entering into the compressor which is not good for the health of the system.
